Default cleaning targets a small set of invisible characters and spaces. You can inspect the original text and select additional formatting options.

Does Text Cleaning Remove AI Watermarks?
Invisible characters can come from documents, websites, keyboards, or AI tools. Finding one doesn’t tell you who wrote the text.
GPTClean-up removes selected characters and formatting artifacts. Statistical watermarks operate through patterns in word choices and require a different verification method. Character cleanup cannot certify authorship or guarantee an AI detector result.

What does GPTClean-up actually remove?
The default clean removes zero-width spaces (U+200B), byte order marks (U+FEFF), word joiners (U+2060), and soft hyphens (U+00AD). It changes non-breaking spaces (U+00A0) into ordinary spaces. Markdown, punctuation, extra whitespace, and language-sensitive controls have separate options.
Does cleaning text make it undetectable as AI?
No. Hidden characters are not reliable proof of AI authorship. Removing them fixes character-level issues; it does not erase statistical watermarks or guarantee a result from an AI detector. This tool does not rewrite your ideas or certify originality.
Will this change my wording or remove emoji?
The default clean preserves your visible wording, paragraph breaks, emoji joiners, and language direction controls. Optional settings can change punctuation, formatting, or joining behavior. Inspect the output before using it, especially for code and multilingual documents.
Is my pasted text uploaded or stored?
No. Cleaning and inspection happen in your browser. We do not send the content to a server or save it in local storage. Optional analytics, where enabled and accepted, measures page visits without including your text.
Is it free, and how much text can I clean?
The tool is free and requires no account. You can process up to 500,000 UTF-16 characters at a time. For longer documents, work in sections so the browser stays responsive and changes remain easy to review.
Can I clean copied HTML and Markdown?
Yes. Choose HTML to text for source markup; embedded scripts and other active content are not executed. Check Markdown to remove common formatting syntax. Code, complex tables, and unusual markup still need a human review.
